James Tyler Studio Elite HDX - Fire Shmear / Red Flame

James Tyler Studio Elite HDX - Fire Shmear / Red Flame

This ambitious spec by the RHMC team showcases a 50/50 shmear/flame body.  The top half is James Tyler's bold "Fire Shmear" which blends reds and yellows to evoke deep flames while the bottom half is transparent red over flame maple.  This guitar showcases the best of what Tyler has to offer when it comes to crazy aesthetics.  The headstock was inspired by the James Tyler social media logo - Black with scraped binding, the "Big California" signature logo, and pearl tuner buttons.  Red dot inlays and black hardware complete the look.

The "Super" humbucker in the bridge position is a modern straight-up rock pickup. Strong low end and less mid-range push than the Shark or the California Special, but more top end and a nice presence. Great for high gain but cleans up nicely.  The JTS5500 single-coils are characterized by the familiar sound of Alnico 5 magnets with more attack, more chime and more power. Full, balanced, and responsive.

As with every James Tyler, this Studio Elite HDX is as much about feel as it is about tone and looks. Tyler’s sculpted neck profile, meticulously shaped body contours, and obsessive attention to fretwork create an instrument that feels instantly familiar while revealing new nuances the longer you play it. There is an unmistakable sense of precision and purpose throughout the guitar, from its beautiful paint job to its responsive tremolo system and finely balanced construction. The result is a sophisticated, incredibly expressive instrument that can move effortlessly between pristine studio work, dynamic pedal-driven textures, and full-blown stage performance.
